Kitchen makeover spotlight

During our initial phone discussion, this homeowner explained that their stock oak cabinets, although dated, were still in great condition and actually better quality than the brand new cabinets he had considered at the store. The hefty price tag for cabinet replacement and the downgrade in quality compared to their current oak cabinets made for an easy decision—no costly cabinet replacement.

As a skilled handyman and a good wall painter, he had considered DIY-painting the oak cabinets himself, properly cleaning and pre-sanding, using grain-filling primer and lightly sanding in between paint coats, but ultimately the length of time the DIY cabinet painting project would take and knowing the grain would still be visible in the end, led him to search for a cabinet painter who could fill oak grain.

Our initial In-home Design Consultation allowed us to make a list of kitchen remodeling changes to consider including: our Classic Cupboards™ cabinet painting to fill the oak grain cabinets, new vinyl plank flooring, new Cambria™ quartz countertops and backsplash, new sink, and under and over cabinet lighting to brighten the space and make the entire kitchen feel larger. The only kitchen remodeling change to the layout would involve rotating the poorly functioning and oddly angled island to center it in the room.

By the end of our initial In-home Design Consultation, our clients had already received a full kitchen remodeling plan including drawings and step-by-step guidelines as well as a general timeline for the entire project.

They received our oak cabinet refinishing quote with 4 pricing options to consider and had selected the potential cabinet color and finish along with several Cambria™ quartz countertop designs from our large sample collection.

Next, our clients received our discounted pricing for the Cambria™ quartz countertops, got to meet our talented flooring installer, received his labor quote and gathered a few samples of potential flooring options.

Having received all of the pricing for their entire kitchen remodel, our clients felt comfortable making their final material selections at our follow-up design consultation at the Cambria™ quartz showroom to see the full quartz slabs alongside their flooring samples and our Classic Cupboards Paint™ color samples.

With all of the decisions made and the step-by-step timeline in place, everyone simply got to work.

We painted the clients' sample kitchen cabinet door for color and finish approval, our handy homeowner saved some money by doing his own electric and carpentry, and our skilled flooring installer laid the beautiful new vinyl plank floor for a seamless look throughout their open floor plan.
